4. Extend your right foot behind the left. Place your right foot a couple of inches behind the left, resting on the ball of your foot.

5. As you do so, shift most of your weight onto the front foot.

6. Bend your knees.

7. Lower yourself down into a curtsy, bending the knees outward, rather than forward.

8. Keep your back straight as you do this — do not lean forward.

9. Gracefully bring yourself back to your original position.

10. Don’t bob straight back up. Get up slowly and gracefully and return to an upright position, lower your hands back to your sides and raising your head as you do so.

“Well, it sounds like a lot of steps,” said Sandra, but I’ve seen this in movies and once you get it down, it will become quick and natural, I suspect.”

Richard was taken through the exercise six times before Sandra was satisfied with his performance. She had him refill her champagne glass one more time. This time Richard had to curtsy before he left the room and then again when he re-entered the room, serving Sandra her drink and then curtsied.

Sandra said, “We’ll have to work on your walk. You’ll get used to wearing heels soon enough, but you need to change your stride. You’ve seen models on a catwalk. That’s what you need to practice. And roll your hips. You’ve watched my hips long enough to know what it should look like. After a while it should become second nature to you. Do it now.”

Sandra watched him walk back and forth, made suggestions, and then had him kneel in front of her. Richard thought she was going to order him to service her orally, but she took out her smartphone and poked at the screen.

“We’re going to go over the schedule and routine I want followed from now on,” Sandra said.

Richard bowed his head said, “Yes, Mistress Sandra.”
