Brie’s Babysitting Service: Sadie by Jay2Kay

“I guess I really should be here by seven,” Sadie said immediately setting down her small purse on the dining room table and attending to the girls; they seemed to remember her from the day before and their eyes brightened at the sight of her. Their screaming turned to giggles and smiles as she began to feed them from their bowls.

“You’re a miracle worker,” Mary said sounding exhausted already.

“Is everything okay?” Sadie asked.

“Yeah, I should have told you to be here sooner; I thought I’d be able to handle getting ready and getting them fed at the same time. This was so much easier with Sean,” she told Sadie.

“Well, that was almost eighteen years ago and there was only one of him,” Sadie reasoned.

“Are you saying I’m old?” she asked and Sadie whipped her head around with wide eyes but let out a deep breath as she saw the smirk on Mary’s face.

“You had me going,” Sadie laughed.

“I know,” she said. “It was fun,” she added and then grabbed her purse and came around to kiss the girls goodbye. “If you need anything, you have my number. I’m only fifteen minutes away,” she said.

“Everything will be fine, the girls and I are going to have a great day, aren’t we?” she said as she turned back to the girls with a big, smile and resumed feeding them and making faces to keep them happy.

Mary kissed the top of their heads and then forced herself to leave the house before she had second thoughts. The day went fairly smoothly, though it was a little more work for her to change both of them because as soon as she put one in her crib, that one began screaming as Sadie changed her sister. Sadie had to ignore the crying until she had both girls changed and then they were in the living room with cartoons on and they played in their play pin. Sadie wiped the little bit of stress sweat from her forehead she’d worked up wrestling with the two girls until they were finally playing quietly together. She decided then that she was not ready for motherhood and considered getting an IUD put in to prevent it for as long as possible.

She developed a routine with the girls, finding that after lunch if she left one to play in the play pin while she changed the other, it went much smoother. They loved to be together, but they also loved getting individual time with her, even if it was just to change a diaper and their clothes. When they fell asleep for their afternoon nap, Sadie tended to the kitchen and checked the laundry room for any laundry, but found it empty. Finally, she ventured to the backyard to find a beautifully decorated cement slab with a kidney bean shaped pool off centered to the right and beyond that a beautifully manicured lawn of bright green grass. It was so picture perfect, she almost pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.

Taking the baby monitor with her, she decided to sit on the edge of the pool and just dangle her almost ghost white legs into the water. It was set at a very comfortable, refreshing temperature. The hot sun beat down on her shoulders as she was wearing a similar outfit as the day before, this time in a red tank top instead of pink. Her denim shorts just barely covered her ass, though, which Mary didn’t seem to complain about seeing as her husband wouldn’t be there to see her and she was alone with the girls all day. Not to mention how much it would grab her son’s attention.

After about ten minutes, though, she decided to go back inside and check on the girls. They were still asleep in their play pin, but just as she was leaning over the edge of it, she heard the door open and close. Sean was home. She pretended not to hear and remained bent over the rail of the play pin, as if to check on the girls’ breathing when she sensed his presence.

She stood and turned towards him. “Hi Sean,” she said. “How was school?” she asked.

“It was fine,” he said and she caught his eyes travel down and then back up her body.

“You’re a senior this year, right?” she asked and he nodded. “You must be excited with it being your last year,” she added and he swallowed hard and nodded again. “Are you okay?” she asked taking notice of the sweat building up on his brow and his breathing growing more ragged.

“Yeah,” he said. “I’ll, uh, I’ve, um, I’ve got homework,” he said and then quickly retreated to his room where she heard his backpack drop and then he rushed into the bathroom, slamming and locking the door.

About five minutes later, she heard the toilet flush and then the door opened again. He surprised her by rejoining her in the living room instead of doing his homework. He looked a little more calm but still very nervous, but she was curious about the fact he wasn’t avoiding her.

“Wanna watch something?” she asked.

“Sure, yeah,” he said, sitting on the opposite end of the couch from her.

Sean extended the footrest in the recliner part of the couch while she kept her legs tucked beneath her.

“What would you like to watch?” she asked him.

He shrugged. “I don’t care. I just don’t feel like doing my homework right now,” he said.

“Okay,” she said. “I don’t blame you. I graduated two years ago and I hated doing homework,” she told him.

“Where did you graduate from? Because I know you didn’t go to my school,” he asked.

“Oh, I just moved here a few months ago from Nevada,” she confirmed.

“That makes sense. There’s only one high school here, so I would have recognized you if you’d gone here,” he said.

“Really, you would have recognized me?” she asked.

He grinned nervously. “Well, it’s a small town and none of the girls look like you,” he said and immediately regretted it.

Sadie smiled at him. “What do you mean ‘like me’?” she teasingly asked him.

He blushed but didn’t answer, and that was answer enough for Sadie.

“So, do you have a girlfriend?” she asked knowing the answer.

“No,” he said. “I’m not really popular,” he told her.

“Why’s that?” she asked, flipping through the channels.

He shrugged. “I just don’t talk to anyone,” he replied.

“Why not? You seem like a nice, smart guy,” she reasoned with him.

“I don’t know,” he said.

“Okay,” she replied, not pushing the issue. “You’re talking to me, though,” she pointed out.

“And this is probably the longest conversation I think I’ve ever had with someone of the opposite sex,” he told her, but something told her that wasn’t totally true.

“Really?” she asked. “Well, I’m flattered,” she added with a wink, his face turning a brighter shade of pink.

They sat and watched a supposedly non-scripted dating show that felt very scripted until Sadie got bored and wanted to continue the conversation.

“So, what kind of things are you into?” she asked.

“What do you mean?”

“Like, do you have any hobbies? Play any sports? Stuff like that,” she asked, turning away from the TV to face him on the couch instead.

“Oh, no, I don’t play any sports. All those guys are assholes,” he said. “I mostly just do my homework and play videogames with friends sometimes.”

“That’s cool, though,” she said. “I’ve never been very good at videogames, but I loved sitting and watching my boyfriends play. The crazy hand-eye coordination they had was cool to watch,” she said and he gawked at her, his mouth half open. “What?” she giggled.
